Thrifting being a sustainable solution to combat climate change ;Solutions to climate change

Thrifting is actually a great solution to combat climate change.

By shopping at thrift stores or online platforms for second-hand clothes, we can reduce the demand for new clothing production. This means fewer resources are used, less energy is consumed, and fewer greenhouse gas emissions are generated.

According to a climate activist; Mrs. Dorcas Tetteh ,When we buy second-hand, we give clothes a new life and prevent them from ending up in landfills. It's a win-win situation because we can find unique and affordable pieces while also contributing to a more sustainable fashion industry.

In addition, As trends change quickly, people often dispose of clothes that are still in good condition, leading to a massive amount of clothing ending up in landfills. This contributes to further environmental issues.

There are ways we can make a positive impact thus by supporting sustainable and ethical fashion brands that prioritize environmentally friendly practices and fair labor conditions. Another way is by practicing mindful consumption, such as buying fewer but higher quality clothes and considering second-hand options. Mrs. Dorcas stated that , the next time you are looking to refresh your wardrobe , consider giving thriftiness a try. Not only will you be reducing your environmental impact, but you might also discover some hidden gems.

As part of the solutions to combat climate change, sub group Twelve (12) went to Kantamanto market to create and  awareness of climate change and clothing, and how important our planet is to us. Several People were involved to make it a success.

The people at the market place were encouraged to dispose their unwanted/ used clothes well after selling or using since when they do not dispose it well it will go a long way to affect life. Buy less of new clothes because they have been worn once, they were encouraged to wear their clothes wisely.
